We're all Synesthetes
on: May 16, 2013, 09:46:04 PM
Synesthetes, so you aren't really all that special. Never were. Apparently, we're all synesthetes because we can match mood to music with surprising accuracy.
As for why? Here's a hypothesis. Visual and auditory information is processed as frequencies, vibrations and electromagnetic frequencies. Our brains interpret these frequencies into sound and color. Somehow, a sound frequency triggers a similar response in the visual cortex which corresponds to certain colors.
Think of what color(s) match these examples:
Mozarts Flute Concerto in G
Mozarts Requiem in D Minor
Then visit the article page to see if your response is similar to most peoples.

"Major=happy, minor=sad" .... ok .... Is there a chance that maybe those common answers are a result of our black and white educational systems in school, family, society, etc.?
