Hi! Your little finger joints might be trying to tell you something: that they don't like practising Hanon and scales. Why not see how they respond to some real music. There will be plenty of interesting problems to work at which will really develop your technique - and your musicianship. What grade are you on? Perhaps I can suggest something for you to work on. Sounds about as credible as the idea that a sprained ankle would pose problems on a step machine but not in ballet. This is clearly about the manner of movement used, not about whether the fingers are executing scales or something more profoundly artistic.
It has been clicking ever since I started using a really fast arpeggiated figure in my right hand during improvisation, and yes I do have a trigger finger in my left hand and I'm gonna get that sorted out soon.

Both of you guys could maybe be a bit more graceful in your comments but I think the point was that if there is a mechanical issue in the finger, it doesn't matter much what was played, as long as it was played similarly.
