Emil Gilels' tone

Lately, I have been listening to Gilels. I love his piano tone, so I am wondering if anybody knows how he produced that tone.

By the way, thank you to everybody who responded on my previous threads! :)

What can I say about the wonderful golden tone of Gilels and how he produced it?

He produced it by wiggling his fingers rapidly while listening carefully to the sounds which came out of the piano as a result of the wiggling.

Which part are you more confused about, the wiggling or the listening?

You see, they feed into each other.

The better you are are wiggling, the more you can listen. And the better you are at listening, the more you can wiggle.

If you aren't very good at either, it can be difficult to improve either one.
