Hi Everyone,

Currently I have a movement from a Mozart sonata and Chopin Ballade 2 for my end-of-year recital exam program. Now I'm looking for a Romantic/20th Century pieces (5-7 minutes) which is poetic and expressive but also has some virtuosic, loud, passionate moments.

Any suggestions?

Thankssss
Currently working on:

Bach - P&F in C# Major, BWV 872, Book II
Haydn - Sonata No.60 in C Major, Hob. XVI 50
Mendelssohn - Variations Serieuses
Debussy - Reflets dans l'eau
Ravel - Jeux d'eau

Romantic/20th Century... Hmm.

Debussy or Ravel come to mind. L'isle joyeuse or Reflets dans l'eau are two expressive and beautiful Debussy pieces, each with their virtuosic moments. A piece from Ravel's Miroirs suite may also fit the bill, although they tend to be quite a bit more difficult. Scriabin's Sonata-Fantasie in g sharp minor is also a fantastic Romantic-20th Century piece.
