Hey guys,
So I've taken piano for just over a year in college and my piano teacher really wants me to do some newer music as the only things I really like that I've found have all been Romantic period stuff:
Chopin Op28 No4 - Prelude in E minor
Chopin Op28 No6 - Prelude in B minor
Gurlitt Op82 No65 - Nachtliche Reise
Burgmuller Op100 No7 (Le courant lipide), 21 (L'harmonie d'angels), 24 (L'hirondelle)
Burgmuller Op109 No7 (Berceuse), 8 (Agitato)
Heller Op45 No22
Heller Op46 No11
Heller Op82 No1
Liszt S187 - Sancta Dorothea
Liszt S238 - La Cloche Sonne
Bach BWV 846
Bach BWV999
Anyway, if you look those up you'll notice that I love minor keys, arpeggios and suspended harmonies that involve repeated chords. So, can anyone suggest any 20th century stuff that ticks at least the arpeggios or suspended harmony boxes, I don't mind major, I just prefer minor. I'm much more of a minimalist. Also I'm still not that great so even though I've attempted the Moonlight Sonata, I didn't get past the fourth measure.
Anyway I hope you guys have some great ideas because my teacher wants me to play Satie's Gymnopedie #1, which is the opposite of what I look for in my repertoire.
Thanks guys.^_^.
