Cheapest deal on Finale anyone?
on: October 31, 2004, 10:36:02 PM
Anyone got a good resource for buying Finale?  Have to join an orgnization to get a teacher's discount.  Can anyone suggest an inexpensive org?
Thanks,

Cheapest deal I can think of is $0.00.   :P
Kazaa works wonders.
A modern house without a flush toilet... uncanny.

I think there are discounts for churches, too.

If you're a member of a church, you're probably helping out with music anyway, I'm sure the music director would sign for you or whatever is required.

ChristmasCarol:

If you can, sign up for a class at your local community college or other type of school that is accredited. I don't think it even has to be a music class. I got my copy of Finale for the student price by proving that I was currently enrolled in a school. In my case it was two classes at a community college, in other words part-time. As it happens they were music classes but the website did not stipulate this, only that you were a current student.

I bought mine at StudentSoftwareStore.com. They lay out their rules for getting the discount clearly, so you should be able to see if you can qualify.

If you go the community college route then the price is the student price plus whatever tuition costs for the class(es) you take. Still a bargain.

Good luck.

If you're interested in switching brands, you could get the sibelius 3 for about $200 (give or take a bit), and all you would have to do is provide some proof that you are a teacher. Ex.- My old choir instructor gave proof that he was a teacher of music (in the disciple, per se) and he got the discount.

Kazaa\lime wire are free but not necessarily legal ;). You might want to try ebay or amazon if you're looking for a good deal and you don't have the stomach to mess with kazaa or get well versed in anti-spyware\viral protection\ect. And unless you're a composer on the cutting edge... of stuff, you don't necessarily need the newest version. But try those places or even ask around. You might have a good friend who would give a copy.

Better off with Sibelius. I hate Finale, but that's just my opinion.
