FANNY mendelssohn
on: November 01, 2004, 05:31:58 PM
she is so much underrated, you can barely find even note sheets of her music, and it's almost impossible to find her music recorded.
i have also read somewhere over the internet that some of her compositions still haven't been published.
she wrote over 400 compositions in her lifetime
why don't they get release?
i had the chance to listen to some MIDI (ugh..) files of her works
and it just beautiful
she is almost as good as her brother
did you know that some of the songs without words that appear under the name of felix mendelssohn are actually her own works?
why is she SO underrated?

btw.. where can i get note sheets of her works ?

I've never heard any of her music, but I do admit, this is interesting. I'll do some research.

Many Songs Without Words were written by Fanny Mendelssohn.

I guess she was as good pianist as Clara Scumann, but im not 100% sure.
The masterpiece tell the performer what to do, and not the performer telling the piece what it should be like, or the cocomposer what he ought to have composed.

Some of Fanny Menselssohn-Hensel's compositions are on Cziffrania at present. Cziffrania is a closely-monitored website for public domain piano scores.
It is at https://groups.msn.com/Cziffrania

Julie, check out this link to Fanny's Das Jahr on amazon.com (or do a search of "Fanny Das Jahr" on amazon and browse thru the CDs)

https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00000IYNX/qid=1101296593/sr=8-6/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i6_xgl15/002-8891636-2057655?v=glance&s=classical&n=507846

It has snippets of each month of Das Jahr to listen to.  My fav is December.
