Why does everyone think of this?
on: June 18, 2013, 09:06:05 PM
Looking to put together a repertoire for future concerts. Just looking to see what other people think of this. I am 16 and I am somewhere between Grade 6 and 7 so any pieces suggestions of something that I could learn would be much appreciated.

Nuvole Bianche              Einaudi
Adagio                      Galuppi
I Giorni                      Einaudi
Allegro                      Handel
Primavera                      Einaudi
Elegie                              Chaminade
Dietro Casa                      Einaudi
Am Abend                      Hoffman
Nimrod                      Elgar
Elegy (In Autumn)      Zilinskis
Metamorphosis 1              Glass
It Ain't Necessarily So      Gershwin
Le Petit Negre              Debussy
Flood Time                       Thiman
Jazz Pieces (Ex and Piece 2)  Peterson
Sturdy Build                      Norton

Meet the Flinstones      Hanna, Barbera & Curtis (Encore if appropriate)

If you haven't heard of any of these, they are almost the top search on youtube, mainly because they are mainly graded pieces or vaguely well known.

Thanks in advance :)

What kind of concerts? background music to cocktail parties? (sorry, my apology, i can't help it!). All I can say is that it is an interesting program. The final piece brought smile to my face!  ;D
You can play whatever you want. It is YOUR program.

I noticed you have a few Einaudi pieces... in the 'new age' genre you may want to explore some Yanni.. ie: Until the last moment, the rain must fall, one mans dream, felitsa, enchantment, etc etc -

it seems most of your rep is very similar in style.  Don't know if it's a theme that you're trying to maintain throughout your concert, or what,,, if so, then I can only suggest some Yanni... if you want liven up the mix.. then you can throw in a little Bach Solfeggietto,  mozart's turkish march or maybe some of the easier chopin preludes ie: no.4 , raindrops... man, the list can be 100pgs' long.. haha
\\\\\\\"I like these calm little moments before the storm. It reminds me of Beethoven\\\\\\\"

I really like your program. It's got loads of different stuff from all across different time periods without relying on the usual overdone romantic mainstays, including some pieces that should definitely be played more often! Not a repertoire I'd choose to learn myself, but something I would be interested in hearing. I would probably lose some of the Einauldi for a bit more variety, maybe get a classical sonata in there. Although please do not take the earlier advice to play Solfeggietto, Turkish March and Raindrop Prelude.  ::)

It's a nice eclectic mix, though a little heavy on the Einaudi. (And I quite like Einaudi). Just a suggestion, and you can tell me where to stick it but maybe drop a couple of the Einaudi and put some Chopin or Satie in there, both regulars of examination pieces, if that's what you're going for, or maybe some more jazz, there's a nice arrangement of Blue Moon in this month's Pianist magazine.
Currently learning:
Mendelssohn 19/6           Chopin 28/4
Satie Je Te Veux            Rach C#m
Poulenc Bal Fantome       Chopin 28/20
Schubert Serenade         Chopin 15/3
Chopin 10/9
