Something New
on: February 20, 2003, 04:20:47 PM
Hey Everyone! Right now I'm working on Twelve Variations of Twinkle (mozart) and Clare de Lune. I was wondering if anyone know of comperable, or slightly harder, concertos or something long! Thanks

What about the haydn concerto in d.
That was my first concerto and i won a competition with it. Its not too challenging.

In the Haydn mould but with more emotional weight you could try Beethoven piano sonatas nos. 1 in F minor op. 2 no. 1, 9 in E major op. 14 no. 1, 19 in G minor and 20 in G major op 49 nos 1 and 2 respectively.
Beethoven's piano music has great substance and is always a joy to play.
Try them!
Robert.

Thank you for all the wonderful advice. I jsut went out and bought the Haydn Sonata in D Major, which I think is what  you meant. I like it very much so far. Next I plan on tackeling the Shubert Impromptu Op. 90 No. 3 in G flat. Next I will tackel some of the Beethoven and Mozart suggested. I start teaching piano tomorrow! wish me luck!

I think Frederic did mean the concerto.  A friend of mine plays it and it is quite a delightful piece.

If you want something slightly harder, you can play Chopin's "Heroic" Polonaise in A-flat, op. 53.
"And you probably thought I'd play badly?" - Sergei Rachmaninoff.
