I hate this person more than Bach
on: June 21, 2013, 01:02:20 PM
Any basketball players out there?

So LeBron James Undeservingly got his second ring.

He's such a freaking flopper what the heck?!

I personally don't have a problem with him abandoning Cleveland, but what I do have a problem with is this...

Now that was just a parody, but this is actually how LeBron plays in real life.

I HATE FLOPPERS!

LeBron is like the Lang Lang of basketball.

Except I actually like Lang Lang.

Equating LeBron to Lang Lang would actually be a compliment. Though many of us don't really care for him musically, Lang Lang is extremely talented technically, and in sports, technical ability is pretty much all that matters.

Well I think Lebron and Lang Lang are very similar.

Lebron is actually good at basketball.
Lang Lang is actually good at piano.

But they both use theatrics when they're at work... >:(

RMF, I still don't understand how you can't like Bach. Bach is the best there is. Nothing beats his compositions.

Do you need something to listen to while writing or studying? Listen to the French Suites.

Do you need to think or pond on something in the past? Listen to the English Suites.

Do you need something powerfull to beat those annoying moments out of your head? Listen to Bach's piano concerto 1058.

Bach is the only composer I can listen to in whatever mood I am.

Mozart = Happy joy joy
Chopin = Sad romantic dips
Beethoven = Screw the world here I come
Rach = I don't care that it's difficult and technically murdereous for your hands, play it damnit

And so on.

Maybe you are joking or exaggerating, but that is an extremely narrow-minded, stereotypical, and just plain incorrect view of 4 of the greatest composers ever.

While studying - Carl Vine, Schoenberg, Ligeti, late Scriabin, and Stanchinsky?

Pondering the past? - Rachmaninoff or Scriabin or Carl Vine...  Or Ravel.

Powerful to beat annoying moments? - Rachmaninoff or Scriabin or Beethoven...  Or Liszt!!!  Damn it Prokofiev is also pretty good.  But I can't forget about Stravinsky as well!

Ugh I left out too many composers...

As long as it's not Mozart or Bach, I'm a happy camper.

And Hayden...  And Alkan.  They're like neutral.

Not really. Most of the Mozart pieces I've listened to bring the happy moments in me up. Beethoven to me is like a storm in summer. Chopin is beauty itself and Rach is a whirlwind.

And yes, exaggerating, excuse me.

In ten years most likely you'll get to like Bach just like in twenty years I'll get to enjoy Scriabin.

I only like two or three pieces from Bach.

THAT'S IT! >:(

Anyways, I'll end the world before I'll begin to actually like Bach.  By that time I'll MAKE you like Scriabin.

All a part of the plan.

I'm too young to like Scriabin I think. All I hear is notes being pushed down, nothing magical like Beethoven.

Even when the great Horowitz plays it....

I just felt nothing.

Team chemistry is really important in Basketball. You can be extremely technically talented but it will never work if you don´t like teamwork.

Correct.

But still. Prokofiev is the limit for me. I was the guy who thought Schumann wasn't for me, until I listened to Kinderszehen.......Traumerei.....My ears rang with joy that day.

If the day ever comes that R4 converts into Bachism I will feel alone in the world  :'(

It's not an age thing BTW. I hated Mozart and Beethoven when I was 10 just as much as I do now quite a few years later...

Ranniks, you might start enjoying Scriabin if you listen to his works chronogically, start with the earlier works (they are quite Chopinisque) and then see how it gets weirder...in a wonderful way :)

I will!

Maybe I'll find a few gems.

To be honest, my opinion was too hasty. Mozart has written a lot of pieces, but I've only listnened to 1% of them probably. It's likely that the majority will not meet my taste. Then again, I don't know that yet.

I thought I couldn't stand Rach until I listened to the prelude in g minor.

Here are some examples of his earlier works:

Valse op 1

Sonata in E-flat minor

Sonata Fantaise, op posth.

Just beware, before you know you will be drawn to his world and can never get back...

If you're as efficient at ending the world as you are at answering posts, I doubt I'll have much to worry about.  Or are you planning something personal?

They pretty much all have the tendancy to flop, LeBron just attracts all the attention since he's the best basketballplayer atm (and because its harder for him to sell a flop since he's a big player). Actually, Shane Battier is the big flopper in the Miami Heat.
