The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

I'm so tired... [Bob asks]
on: November 02, 2004, 02:31:43 AM
Is there any way to practice while lying down?  Anything useful that can be accomplished without sitting up?

Yes, I know.  This sounds exceptionally lazy.  I'm wiped out and I know sitting up to practice is going to make me more worn out.  There's got to be some productive way to practice while lying down.... score study, aural skills, planning practicing... maybe just plain old rest and sleep.....

the best thing to do when tired cos it requires basically no physical effort whatsoever is to listen to music! and if you want to be productive then do some simple analysing whilst you're at it- welcome to me life!

I would say the best thing to do when you're tired is to go to sleep. You can't run away from fatigue (though Bernhard certainly promotes his methods which point to the contrary...  :P).  Sleep is my greatest priority, I won't lose sleep over anything, including large term papers which are due the next day. I just don't function well when I'm tired, so I make a point not to be tired.

I put sleep much further down.

Heh... If I'm tired, lying down = falling asleep.

Call me lazy but I like to listen to the music while reading the score.  This helps me "see" what I hear and it also help my sight reading.
