Any pictures of musicians smoking, especiallly pipes, would be legit awesome. Information on this would be good as well, maybe how smoking contributed. Let me start:

Working on:
Bach Invention 7 (also Tureck's book)
Clementi Sonatina 3
Rachmaninoff Moment Musicaux no. 3
Skrjabin Prelude op.11 no.4
Joplin The Favorite Rag

Well, this is actually a video, but at 00:50 you can see that Annie Fischer is smoking!

Liszt smoked cigars (allegedly sometimes while playing  :o ), but I can't find photographic evidence.

Also "narghileh" (Turkish pipe) according to the letters he exchanged with Berlioz.

Here's another great composer/pianist:

Preferably, yes, like this cutie, for example:

Bugs Bunny is as real as I am. He's on TV and everything!  ::)

Incidentally, this thread is making me feel better about my own smoking. Does that make it illegal?

..given that Bach, Stravinsky and Rachmaninoff (the 3 off the top of my head) all slept with their cousins perhaps you should also consider some other behaviours that are also more commonly thought of as being unacceptable nowadays.

To be fair, they did marry them. Possibly even first.

Just consider...?

So far as the genetic concerns related to their offspring, I'm not entirely sure it makes a difference if they were married or not..

What has that got to do with "other behaviours"?

I'm considered the pick of the bunch by the only judge I trust.

Well, I don't smoke anything, I'm only 15. But I did get a pipe from my friend and I'm planning to use it. I don't care what people say. Besides its not nearly as bad as cigarettes, considering it isn't addicting. Anyways, great pictures, especially the rach one.  ;)

Post a picture of you smoking a cigar/cigarette/pipe! It'd fit in this thread.

Be warned, that's how I started. It's more addictive than you might think.

I see that it's not lit, so not sure it counts. Surprising, though. I thought only basses could get away with smoking.

Yeh, arrogance like claiming it isn't at all addictive is ridiculous. Even though you're not inhaling as deeply as with a cigarette, you're still getting nicotine in your lungs, and nicotine most definitely is addictive. That doesn't mean you will get addicted, but thinking you're somehow invincible to the addiction millions of people have is a good way to join them.

Haha, no.

Why not? I'll post a picture of me smoking something if I can find one...I don't have many pictures of myself though so probably don't have any. Used to have a pretty cool picture but I think I lost it

Well, I don't say it like I am being a smart!@#. Besides, smoking a pipe takes a lot more time to be able to smoke so much a day and it's also more expensive. I never really liked the smell of cigarettes. The only tobacco  that I have ever smelled that I liked was this chocolate flavoured one that my brother smoked.

It's actually cheaper, but that aside you sound exactly like me some years ago. Consider that a warning.

Why not?

I can't afford my own modelling fee.
