How do I get my playing to sound smooth?
on: July 02, 2013, 01:10:40 AM
I don't know if this is supposed to improve as I become more experienced, but right now the songs I play don't really come out the way I hope them to.Like, there's a "clunk clunk" sound when I press keys. Don't know how to describe it but I hope some of you get what I'm trying to say.  I guess it could be because my organ is a bit old. How do I improve this?

I dont know about the organ, but on an accoustic piano the sound you are describing could be caused by too much attack on the keys.
This is where technique really comes into it. It is almost impossible to describe correct technique, a teacher can show you much more clearly.
I dont know if you have a teacher? I beleive that if one is serious about classical piano, I teacher is a neccesity.

you could watch many tutorials in youtube about how to position your hand and fingers correctly
you can also watch many professional players playing with their hands on camera

my advise (from my teacher long ago), you should always start slowly
play one hand, each separately until you get used to it
then you play them together SLOWLY until you get used to it
then you accelerate the tempo until your best speed
then you work on your interpretation

i used to give accent to certain notes to keep my beats regular/even
