Who is this composer...
on: July 12, 2013, 02:32:00 PM
I heard a couple of short piano pieces. The first one reminded me a bit of later Scriabin sonatas, but the other one was more like Scriabin after smoking opium in China...Modern stuff. I wasn't able to catch the name of the composer properly, it was a Chinese name... Anyone know who it might be?

Very little to go on, so a wild guess - Tan Dun.

Never heard of him, so I'll check him out. But I think it was someone else, Cho something?

This is why I don't listen to the radio, you can't go back to check something and then it starts bugging you :(

The fact is, I don't know any Asian classic composers, so I had no idea whether this is someone famous or not...

Sometimes you can go to the website of the radio station and see exactly what was playing at a certain time.  Or, you can often email the station and ask the same question.  Both have worked for me.  Hope you find the piece!
