Which is the harder Concerto overall?
on: July 16, 2013, 04:14:53 AM
Rach 2 vs Prok 3
rate out of ten if you can
break down by movements if you can
how far off each one is from Rach 3 in difficulty
Thank you!

They're both so hard it doesn't matter which one you decide to learn.

It's just a matter of personal preference.

Rach 2 vs Prok 3
... Rach 3

Why pick on these 3?

Oh wow never mind!!

I read it as the rach 3 and prok 2!

Oooooooh!!!!!  *face palm*

The Prokofiev 3 is harder than the Rach 2.

If you are set on playing from the Russian school, I'll advocate Medtner's concertos or even Scriabin's.  Or dozens of the lesser known works.  My ears at least would appreciate some freshness.  Bortkiewicz.  Or Katchaturian!

If only it were so, in the sense of the old gag that used to run "nothing acts faster than Anadin - so why not take nothing?"...
