Grieg - Lyric Pieces, Op.12 No.1 - Arietta
on: July 28, 2013, 08:32:30 PM
Hi,

I am a self-taught piano amateur, and I have been playing for about two years now. I wanted to give this a try, because I know that there is a lot of piano expertise amongst the forum members, and it would be good to get some feedback. I consider taking lessons, to make sure I do not teach myself bad habits, etc, but for now this will have to do!

I come from Norway and live in the city where Edvard Grieg used to live (Bergen). Therefore it seemed natural to kick off with a piece by Grieg that I like a lot: A small and relatively simple piece called "Arietta", which is part of his Lyric Pieces. After listening to different interpretations of this piece I find that some people plays it quite a lot faster, but in my opinion it is better at this speed. Other opinions?

I am grateful for any constructive feedback!

Very nice!  Try to make that last measure fade away into nothing.

Thanks! Yes, I totally understand what you are saying about the last measure. I have been thinking that as well, and now I know I need to focus more on getting the ending right
