one hit wonders
on: August 03, 2013, 01:04:38 AM
I am a classical music novice, no lessons, some concerts, lots of listening. You tube has opened my eyes (and ears) to some amazing composers, what I term "one hit wonders", pieces so thematic that they flood my head. Try to find other pieces by these people, and you struggle. Lydia Auster's piano concerto, ditto Castillon, Thuille, Rontgen's 2nd (a contemporary of Brahms, and so Brahmsian it is amazing), Heraculius Djadabary's piano concerto, Tyzen Hsaio (termed the Taiwanese Rachmaninoff) The list goes on and on.
JUST LISTEN TO THEM, LOVE THEM, BE PREPARED TO BE BLOWN AWAY. And, there are many more.
Thanks for allowing me to vent.

Cool, I haven't heard of some these people you mention. How did you come across them? Through youtube??
