Steinway 1899 Model B Paderewski
on: August 06, 2013, 01:44:37 AM
I have an 1899 Steinway Model B that is one of the replicas from Paderewskis tour a few years before. We are moving and it wont fit into our new house. It needs to be restored.  Any clue how much we could get for it? I love having it but sadly will have to part with it. Also, would it be smarter to sell it as is or restore it first?

You probably should start by having it appraised and come up with a selling [price as is vs rebuilt. Having it rebuilt sounds great but say ( using arbitrary figures) you can sell it for $5000 as is but $16000 after an $11000 rebuild then there wouldn't be much sense in that.
Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.
