Piano Light
on: August 07, 2013, 05:32:00 PM
Is anyone familiar with the KiloLight 9-LED Piano Light, with USB and AC Power Adapter for use with an electronic piano (mine happens to be a Yamaha P-85)? It's the only affordable one I've come across that looks like it might be light enough not to weaken the plastic music stand that attaches to the keyboard.

I'm not familiar with the light but a couple of points to consider.
LED tends to be pretty bright for their size. I don't think enough light will be the issue in terms of intensity, spread may be an issue. Not sure on that.. However, they do run cool in temperature, giving a kind of stark comparison to say, a daylight warm balanced light. You may or may not like that and it may or may not be the case with this specific light.
LED lights also run very cool in actual temperature compared with incandescent bulbs, an incandescent piano light can get warm.. The LED won't do that.
I use an LED for my fly tying, it's a cluster of three lights, the work area lights up like daylight. But flies are tiny, I work under a magnifier, the lit up area is larger than just the tying vice in that case. Very good though in my case..

Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.

Thanks very much. It sounds like it will work. I'm going to assume that at less that one pound it will not be an issue for the music stand.

I find that with bouncy digital pianos, a separate music stand is helpful. That way the music and any attached lamp will stay still, and you can pound away at the keyboard.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
