way back in the day (10 years ago) I used to used sheetmusicarchive.net  - but that has since become commercial ($6/month i think, or ~30$/year)

There are LARGE chunks available via torrent. There's a bunch of torrents that are organised as "Everything by composers beginning with B" - they are incomplete but still there is a lot there, however they are also not legal because they do include some non public domain scores I think.. If I remember rightly the K section had Kabalevsky which is ofcourse not due to enter the public domain for quite a while.

I like going to the library to get books, the state library here is pretty awesome.

Yeah I remember sheetmusicarchive.net was cool too. Torrents etc are helpful but not very organised like the imslp website (or as easy to download from).

The torrents I was thinking of were actually relatively organised, still a bit of a pain to deal with though..  but atleast everything was sorted into folders per composer. Seeders and score quality is probably a bit inconsistent though.

Yeah aj thats what I found. Some torrents work very well others take forever, can be inconsistent, although I've found some of the most interesting works through them. Also the temptation to keep copyright material is strong when dealing with torrents too!
