Current obsessions
on: August 13, 2013, 01:05:54 PM
We all go through phases of having a current obsession with a piece of music, I'm sure; so what is or are your current obsessions and what performer/ recording specifically? Your answers don't have to strictly be piano pieces.

Here are mine:

Andre Previn with Horacio Guitierrez conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Brahms: Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor, Op. 15
(I would've said Glenn Gould but the coughing in that recording annoys the hell out of me)

Evgeny Kissin with Sir Colin Davis conducting the London Symphony Orchestra
Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, Op. 37

The Beaux Arts Trio
Shostakovich: Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor, Op. 67

The Guarneri Quartet
Beethoven: String Quartet No. 14 in C# minor, Op. 131

Alfred Brendel with Neville Marriner conducting The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields
Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major, K. 488
