Coordination-Left Hand Delay
on: August 17, 2013, 10:51:42 PM
I've been practicing Clementi's Sonatina no. 3 up to the first repeat sign in the first movement. I've realized that when I practice hands together, I feel that my left hand is not in sync when the right plays. For example in the second measure, the two hands sort of sound/feel out of sync. This happens in a number of places throughout for me.

Another problem I had was that I feel like I rush some things when it fits in my hand. Let me explain: For example, 4th system 4th measure, with the arpegio and scale, I feel like I rush D C B A G. It sounds very sloppy.

I don't have these problems with the First Invention of Bach.

I don't really know how to explain, ask follow up questions, but how do I overcome these difficulties? How do I play more in sync and accurately, precisely?

Thanks,

Esteban
Working on:
Bach Invention 7 (also Tureck's book)

Rachmaninoff Moment Musicaux no. 3

Slow it down until the sycnh issue goes away and you are in time. Repeat at that speed or slower for a while until you get the coordination gelled in your hands/head and then gradually speed up, making sure that the coordination remains in place.

Also, think about the rhythm of the piece, and stick to it.

Also do hands separate work.  Concentrate on the part that seems more difficult to you.  This allows you to isolate any difficulties in one hand, without overloading your brain to play hands together and deal with the difficulty at the same time.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Well, the difficulty isn't exactly coordination. Its very subtle. My left-hand is very slightly slower. Same with two handed scales up and down. I have to work more with my left hand
