Mélancolie (Poulenc) & Polish Dances (Scharwenka)
on: August 19, 2013, 07:35:43 PM
Hello everybody,

Maybe you'll be interested in these videos (they're not tubes!). I worked these pieces this year, and played them during a concert with other amateur pianists in June 2013.
Unfortunately, these recordings have been made at home with the silent system.

I like very much Melancolie by Francis Poulenc, which is not so easy to play.
The Polish Dances by Scharwenka are fun to play; some parts sound like Chopin's Mazurkas.

Comments are very welcome  :) !
Thanks.

Hi jean-luc,

I also posted a recording of Poulenc's "Melancolie" here several years ago, so understand the difficulties.  I believe that you overcame all of them and have produced a very fine rendition.  Congratulations on your achievement!  By the way, "Melancolie" is Poulenc's longest piano solo piece.

Hello rachfan,

Thank you for listening. I'm glad you enjoyed Mélancolie because I've spend a lot of time to work it : about 6 months with a few interruptions because I wasn't improving in the work. Hands position is not very comfortable, and I had to find the less bad moves.

Yes, I know you've played Mélancolie and I've listened your recording about 3 months ago (I've listened many recordings). You did a great job with beautiful musical intentions, despite the slow tempo you adopted.

I didn't notice it was the longest piano solo piece by Poulenc, and you're absolutely right... ;)
