Need some feedback for Bach Minuet in G minor No.2
on: August 24, 2013, 10:56:36 PM
Hello!

I would like feedback on where should I improve the aforementioned piece. I just finished learning it and now I am moving to the Minuet G No.3 , all of this is from the book First Lessons in Bach.

I really hope I start to get quality content more easily as I progress but I won't complain after all getting a sublime piece is a work of a lifetime I guess. So! Have no mercy rend, curse yell, tear me apart if you deem necessary I really wish to someday within this decade to be really good so spare me nothing.

Thanks a lot in advance for taking the time to review this!

Onward to greatness!

P.D: It has been raining A LOT so I couldn't find a moment without some background rain to record this.

P.D.D: Thank to all of you who gave me feedback for the Minuet No.6 my performance was most pleasing to me and for other people(or so I was told) and I even got to catch the eye of a certain beauty *sniff* I couldn't have done it without you guys.

Nice work.  Two suggestions. First off I think it needs to be a bit faster. Not a lot. I like the tempo you have, but it's not quite fast enough for a minuet.  Secondly, try a bit more legato.

You've pretty much cracked the timing first off, so well done.

Thanks a lot! Now wheneaver I practice I have the voice of the Pianostreet avatars whispering in my ear 0.0  and then there is J_menz gazing with a posed look and a stoic face...

I will try to speed it up a bit then and work on the legato, I was confident that this slow tempo would work to my favor considering I play this after the Minuet in G Major No.1 so I wanted contrast but I guess your suggestion is valid, is after all a dance.

And of course you do ;D

You can still have contrasting tempos. Minuets have a sort of natural range of speeds, and this is currently a little under that. Don't overdo the speeding up, you're pretty close.

If I may add, in my opinion the playing shouldn't be exactly legato, I just think that the notes should be given a bit more time. I personally prefer the first two notes of a group of three slurred and the last staccato.

I agree with the poster above-the notes need to be given more time. Portamento! Not legato, not staccato! Just more control of the sound.
