Gaining weight
on: August 25, 2013, 05:21:22 PM
Anyone have a clue on how to do this without just eating until I feel sick? ::)

I'm kinda annoyed at my ridiculously high metabolism (or at least, that seems to be the problem) causing me to be such a skeleton.

You could workout and drink protein shakes, after all fat for the sake of fat isn't healthy what you want is muscle that can absorb and have a healthy film of fat over, else you will look all gross with every sinew showing.

I've seen articles/websites about actors who bulked up for their movie roles.

Christian Bale -- He's gone back and forth a few times.
The Wolverine actor
That 300 movie.  Those guys.

Although I think that was bulking up muscle, not fat.

It would be taking in more calories than you're burning up.  Probably more carbs.  Lots of eating during the day.  I'd be a little concerned about the fat and cholesterol collecting too -- More food, more calories, but also all the negative stuff adding up too.

You'll get used to eating more too.  The stomach will stretch out.

How much would you like to gain? You have the "freshmen 15 pounds" in your future. Don't sweat body type. Just live and eat what you want. Keeping a balanced diet wouldn't hurt. Think about how many women would love to look like you!

Probably at least about ten pounds. I've started to run again after a two year hiatus, and I probably need the extra energy anyway to get faster times.

Think about how many women would love to look like you!

Err, I don't think I would want that. LOL.

Beer. Can't guarantee you won't still feel sick, though.

I don't see how that would help, but I'm underage. And I'm pretty short anyway, so I probably wouldn't be able to take much alcohol.

It does, but don't break any laws.

If you're underage, I suspect time will fix the weight thing all on it's own. Ten years and you'll be starting a thread called "Weight Loss".

Agreed.

Why do you want to put on weight anyway? As long as you feel healthy what's the problem? If you don't feel healthy see a doctor.

Why not lift weights and build muscle?  Sounds like that's what you want.

Fat and wimpy isn't a good look.

After you heard the LA Phil at the Hollywood Bowl I suggested that you try to hear them downtown in a fully acoustic setting. I gave you the wrong name of the hall. It was the one I remember but has changed to The Disney Concert Hall.

All you need to know is that they play in a hall just to the West of the LA City Hall (the pointy building) which may even have changed names once again.

The original name was for the person who gave the money to build it.

I'm kinda annoyed by your ridiculously high metabolism too !   Lifting weights will put pounds on and help burn off the bad LDL cholestoral at the same time.  Or you can do what I did when I was skinny... just wait 25 years.

Have you tried a mass gainer such as this?

If you added 1 serving of this to your current diet a day there's no way you wouldn't gain weight.

You could try eating pure sugar and seeing what happens.  I tried that once a few years ago, hoping it would give me more energy.  No luck.  I think I did gain some weight though.

want a quick weight gain.
Optionone:
STOP endurance running, focus on Gym workout for low reps and approx. 40 minutes a day 3 times a week. You need time to recover to gain muscle mass. overworked, it becomes an endurance training, as a result of simulating slow twitch muscles which you dnt want, these are long and skinning muscles. Everyone comes with certain make up of slow and fat twitch muscle(bulk ). By doing weights training you stimulate more fast twitch muscle grow, therefore gain strengths and muscle mass, but less endurance. If you do a short 50mX5 spring it would also does the same effect.
Option2: Get youself a girl friend, woman does a tremendous effect on male hormones. As a result -weight gain.  I hope this helps.

Personal trainer checking in

Key to gaining weight is simple. Eat more calories than you burn. If you find you are eating to the point of discomfort and still not gaining, what you need to do is add more caloric dense foods to your diet. Examples are  peanut butter, dairy, olive oil, nuts, ice cream. Keep the diet healthy and well rounded but add some of those caloric dense foods so you can hit your calorie needs without feeling like throwing up. Be patient with a bulking cycle. You should aim for 2-4 lb gain per month. Anything more than that is going to be fat and initially, water weight. Be careful with using gainer powders and supplements. They are fine, but the more whole foods, the better.

Eat smaller meals but eat more often. Watch out for monodieting. Make sure you are eating enough of a variety. Take vitamins. Do you have a glutein allergy? Have you ever checked what your food allergies are?

LOL   ;D  I cannot even tell how many teen guys I used to know - when I was a teen myself - who loved to complain about their unability to gain weight.

And ten or fifteen years later they were all sitting there with their big beer bellies, talking about losing weight ... Everyone of them.
