Easy Bach Pieces
on: August 31, 2013, 02:32:41 PM
Hello, I, like most pianists, enjoy Bach's music a lot but I am still quite limited in my ability to play piano. I was just wondering if any of you know of any easier Bach pieces that I could learn.
Thanks  ;)

Look at the Anna Magdalena Notebooks.

Bach doesn't get much easier than that. And be careful! Even Bach's simplest-looking pieces contain monstrous difficulties!

Of course I'm sure they are. Thanks though, I have already learned 'The Pipe Aria' which is nice but all the songs in the notebook look interesting.

the goldberg variatons isn't too bad.  Not too long, and you should be able to play it well i think

 ;D

On a serious note, I'd try the Prelude in C major from The Well-tempered Clavier (I). Learn and play the chords, then arpeggiate them.

There's also the Notebook for Wilhelm Friedmann Bach, the preludes from the Little Preludes and Fugues and then onto the two party inventions.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I realise now (I'm reasonably new) that I probably should have posted this in the Student's Corner.  ::)

Congratulations on beginning your explorations of Bach's works. First of all, DO NOT start with the Goldbergs, they are the hardest of bachs works. Try some french suites notably No.6 In E Major.

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
