DG - The yellow label
on: September 01, 2013, 03:12:36 PM
Whatever happened to them?
It was that top notch label, and now they are the masters of mediocrity!
They have those Jussen-brothers, Alice Sara Ott, Jan Lisiecki And freaking Elvis Costello?!?!

Not that they aren't talented in any way, but wasn't DG meant as the label for the best of the best? Now it starts to become the new Naxos. Uuugh...

The industry is having a hard time!

They see manufacturing younger and younger stars as being the only way forward, when it is in fact the only way backwards!

A bit harsh on Naxos.

It is a complicated problem, the one they have... I mean, as a recording label, they still want to make money, but I can't help but laugh at the way they are trying to "reinvent" themselves. Have you seen the promotional videos for these young artists? It laughable... In one of them we have Jan on top of a building playing mozart, and everyone who passes and see him in the distance start to smile... these Jussen brothers are the ones I believe I saw a video in witch they were playing Liszt, only to, after the mediocre performance, being swallowed by the piano. Crazy stuff.
Chopin First Scherzo
Guarnieri Ponteios
Ravel Sonatine
Rachmaninoff Prelude op. 32 no. 10
Schumann Kinderszenen
Debussy Brouillards
Bach, Bach, Bach...

The industry knows that sexy sells.  Remember that violinist who recorded her own album, took naked pictures of herself, placed those pictures on the cover, and sold them and she became rather well-known and was picked up by a major label?  She had no shame it in, either.  In an interview about that sexiness, she boldly stated that you wouldn't have heard of me if I didn't do that.

I still can't recall her name but do recall that violin covering her boobs. ;D

Lara St. John?

The trouble is, music is very difficult to sell by itself. Without sex, it's virtually impossible. Miley Cyrus and Lara St. John both know that.

Darn it... I already ordered my CD's without any accompanying pornographic fluff!

Oh well, maybe people with buy them just for the music ;)

No naked pictures of you? Just some Chopin etudes or similar stuff?
How boring... :(

Oh yeah, Lara St. John! U' kno, if she really wanted us to remember her name, she should have used that as a tattoo to cover her breasts instead of her violin.  I can think of another pair of mine that could be used to cover her breasts.  ;)
