Music for Piano Four Hands
on: September 03, 2013, 11:40:29 PM
Hi Everyone,
I am looking to play a piano four hands piece with a friend of mine and I need idea of what to play. Although, we (my friend and I) are both finished ARCT, we want something relatively easy and something we can achieved to a certain degree without excessive practice.
Please give me ideas and suggestions that I can relay to my friend.
Thanks in advanced for your replies.

v=Very good but feel they no understands the work as wells, too fast, looses some of character but works stills

Try Debussy's Petite Suite. It's not exactly easy, but none of the good four hands repertoire is.
My girlfriend and I are playing Mozart Symphony no. 41, Mendelssohn Hebrides Overture, and Smetana's The Moldau. Those are all absolutely insane, though. Definitely only try those if you are feeling like a real virtuoso team. Also be careful of the Dvorak Slavonic Dances- they aren't for the faint of heart either.
Schubert wrote loads of good stuff for four hands. Fantasy in F minor, March Militaire, Grand Duo Sonata.
Mozart wrote five Sonatas for Four Hands which are all stunning. Again, real virtuoso stuff.
Four hands is the most fun in the world if you have a good partner!

Poulenc's sonata for 4 hands is easy and showy. It's a great little piece! Here's a decent recording of the first movement (
).

Faure's "Dolly" is fun to play, sounds nice, and easy as hell. (If you're advanced you can even sight-read most parts.)
Also, Beethoven's sonata for four hands in D major is pretty nice and easy.
Good luck!

Just read through this one last night with a friend! A great place to start, quite a bit easier than Mozart's Four Hands Sonatas.
