Very nice performance!! Now try to learn it by heart and I also would play a little bit louder the first note of each mesure, but he does it very very well!!

I also like his use of the pedal. Congratulations!  ;)

I thought this was marvelous playing, really! He has a fantastic touch developing.

I do not agree with frankiisko whatsoever on the subject of memorization in this case!

Being able to play with as much control of the sound as he has shown here while keeping the eye on the score shows highly advanced musical ability, REGARDLESS of the age of the player!

He's not lucky, he's musical. And probably best to wait for Schubert.

Thanks for listening, everyone. He's still working on it, so I will pass on your feedback. And he likely does have it memorized by now; his teacher really wants him to stay with the music when he's learning pieces because he tends to move off too quickly for her taste! I think I posted this somewhere before, but here's a CPE Bach piece he played last June that was a much different style, if you're interested:

This is good, I like this teacher. The Solfegietto was nice. He seemed a bit more nervous than at home, but that is natural!

Good pedaling! I've never seen those funny pedal extensions. What is that?

Fine budding pianist you have developing there. You should be proud.

How is his music theory? Does he play a second instrument?

His music theory is pretty limited at this point (he is eight), but next week he will start a year-long course at a local school of music. He doesn't play a second instrument. We've talked about it, but it seems like it would be hard to fit in practice time for both.

The pedal extender is a PE-2 and it couldn't work any better. It's very portable and easy to set up.
