Memorization via hypnosis or autohypnosis ?
on: September 08, 2013, 01:55:25 PM
We can now find a lot of autohypnosis mp3 files on the net, on different subjects. Have any of you worked piano memorization with such files ? (if some could be used for piano)
More generally, did you try memorization via hypnosis ? Did it work well (that is to say, did it allow to memorize a lot quickly ?)

Memory doesn't work that way so it's BS, a scam, a way to take your money.

I have used hypnosis to increase my motivation for piano practicing and it worked incredibly well.

Some might state that this was "just a placebo effect" but point is, that hypnosis is nothing but "placebo" and yes, it works. I suppose it can work for memorization as well, in the way that it might increase your self confidence. I know, from own bitter experience, that if you don't think you can memorize, you cannot memorize ... and the opposite, of course.

If you think hypnosis is a way to effortlessly inject your mind with the facts you want to remember, while you take a nap (sort of), you will get disappointed. Hypnosis as a way to get you focused and more confident, so that you can handle your studies more effectively - yes, it definitely works. I have used it for many years.
Or rather, it works just as well as you want it to work. Hypnosis cannot overtake your mind and make you think against your own convictions.

SUGGESTION/AUTO-SUGGESTION surely works for me. i have my doubts about hypnosis though. I am afraid of trying it actually because I don't feel very much like giving away my free will to others.

Second, whether a method works or not simply depends on the trust both teacher and student develop towards that method. This is not a bad thing in itself, though, because placebos tend to really work wonders for those who believe in them. :)
No amount of how-to information is going to work if you have the wrong mindset, the wrong guiding philosophies. Avoid losers like the plague, and gather with and learn from winners only.
