Basic Harmony

Hello, I am new here and am hoping I can get some help.

I have just purchased Grace Vandendool basic harmony.
I understand most of it but what I don't get is what I am supposed to be looking for to complete the information in the brackets above the treble clef. (Page 6).

I would appreciate any help
