I need an exercise for thirds.
on: September 27, 2013, 07:11:38 PM
Hallo guys.
I am looking for an exercise in thids. But not just scales, because i already do C major in thirds, up and down, and also some other scales. But now i need an exercise thats more than only going up and down. Some easy melodies or something.
If you guysknow something, i would really appreciate if you tell me those.
Thanks in advance

Learn to play major and minor scales in double thirds hands together in all keys.
That should give you plenty of exercise!

I suggest improvising musically interesting passages which employ the (13)(24)(35) striking pattern, in as many different note groups, touches and accents as you can invent. Technique thrives on variety, or at least mine does. I found that fluency in double notes depended on practising all the combinations of finger striking patterns, the actual notes used being of lesser importance. Therefore it seems reasonable to make the process musically varied and interesting rather than a daily grind. Thousands would probably disagree, that is just what I found for myself over the years.

Hallo guys. Thank you for your replies.
I dont mean double thirds. I mean thirds with two hands.
And yes, i am also considering doing scales in double thirds.

Play all of your major and minor scales in both hands separated by a third.
