Looking for a Fast, Fun New Non-Classical Song (Early Advanced/Advanced)
on: September 28, 2013, 07:29:42 PM
Hi all.
I am looking to learn a few new fast, fun, non-classical piano piece.
Here are two pieces that I can play now that give a great idea of exactly what I am looking for -- fast, right hand dominant, one line right hand melodies, limited chords, musically simple, catchy, showboat.
Jack Fina - Bumble Boogie
Zez Confrey - Dizzy Fingers
For reference, these songs are fairly easy for me so if any recommendations are harder, that is fine.
Thank you!!

Many pieces come to mind.
The faster Morton solos - Frances, Shreveport Stomp, Fingerbreaker - the best transcriptions are those by Dapogny.
The big Waller solos - Gladyse, Handful of Keys, Blue Black Bottom - many transcriptions of these exist.
Faster pieces by David Thomas Roberts - Pinelands Memoir, Kreole, Waterloo Girls - these can be bought from his website.
Frank French's Bucktown Buck - can be bought online I think.
James Johnson - Carolina Shout and many others now available through several transcribers.

Thank you for the reply. I am definitely looking for songs with fast, one line right handed melodies.
The ones that I think I might learn are Fingerbreaker and Handful of Keys.
If anyone else has any suggestions of songs with fast, one line right handed melodies that is greatly appreciated!
