I am an adult intermediate student.  My current teacher has limited use of his left hand.  Specifically, he is missing two fingers.  As I progress, I am finding that this is becoming an issue.  He is unable to demonstrate proper technique.  He seems to be knowledgeable of the correct literature to assign, and did study the pieces himself prior to his injury.  He somehow has learned to compensate, and is able to play jazz improv.  I am not sure if I should look for another teacher.  I am progressing ,but I wonder if I am limiting myself with a teacher who is not able to play what I am trying to learn.

I would stick with your musically and pedagogicaly knowledgeable teacher. No teacher is required to play everything you play, to show you how to play what you have to play, etc. because sometimes, the student surpasses the teacher in technical ability, but almost never in practical knowledge, experience concerning performance and musical thinking.
P.S.: I think your teacher has plenty of fingers left to show you this or that movement to move a key.
EDIT: V. Horowizt's teacher, Felix Blumenfeld, was paralyzed in his right hand, but he really made something out of Vladimir, didn't he?

You could always play the RH while he plays the LH with his RH :) You learn more accompanying your teacher than just watching them, you might as well watch a youtube video then.

Use your brains. Whatever you're using to increase the control of your right hands, try to find similar excersizes to increase your left hand. It's not all that complicated, you just have to use your own head too if you really want to progress to a high level, dont let yours depend on your teacher.

Thanks for those who have responded to my post.  The topic of learning style I think is important.  I am a visual learner.  Students learn in a variety of ways and instructors have specific ways of teaching. Instructors who understand and draw on knowledge of student learning styles and understand their own teaching style can greatly enhance their teaching.
