Bach Italian Concerto - Advice, please
on: October 17, 2013, 11:28:22 AM
Hi.  I'm trying to decide which edition of the Bach Italian Concerto to have my student buy.
I use the Peters Urtext edition myself, and it's OK; the page layout is nice.  But I see that there is also an Alfred Edition, among others.

Amazon only allows a glimpse at the first few pages of the Alfred Edition, which amounts to only the editor's commentary.  I can't see any of the actual score.  If someone has it, how is it?

Or is there something better?  Suggestions, please.

You cannot go wrong with Henle.

Good luck!

I have the Alfred one. Not usually a fan of their editions, but don't recall any problems.

I recommend the Rosalyn Tureck edition of the Italian Concerto published by Schirmer.  It's urtext.
