Anyone else here a serial contrarian?
on: October 31, 2013, 10:16:26 AM
When my piano teachers wanted nuance and maturity, I had to bang away like the metalhead that I am.

When I'm playing metal, I have to add nuance and phrasing.

When I hear Mozart at his lightest, I want nothing more than to make it a dark parody of hopelessness.

When I hear an excuse to be dark and ugly, (just listening toRichter playing the Hindemith suite, op. 26), I suddenly get the urge to dial it back.

This has made my music-making career very troublesome at times.

Anyone else get this?

That's perfectly fine, you are who you are, no need to change to please anyone else. :)

You play metal with your keyboard or do you sing?

I can't throw stones, I like to add vibrato to everything.
