What kind of foundation and pieces should you have under you belt before learning the first lessons in Bach book?

Is't that a bit advanced? I am talking about a beginner playing the First Lessons in Bach. I want to know if its ok for a beginner to start playing Bach.

I started with that book, (First Lessons..) perfect to begin with tbh, each piece has some aspect that requires more work.

I was sort of kidding in my first reply.  But really though, isn't "The FIRST LESSONS in Bach" the FIRST LESSONS in Bach?

Wellcome to Bach Music!
If you are beggining Bach, you may wish to try his easy pieces like the six little preludes or some Minuetos. After, you may play the two voices Inventions. And after all this, perhaps some French Suites. In the Net, you may download one text of Rosalyn Tureck with her own point of view about how to play Bach and 3 series of Bach compositions with her own indication about how to play each one of them.
Best wishes.

Thank you. I play Bach on the guitar but I am a big fan of Glenn Gould and want to learn it on Piano. Rosalyn Tureck was an expert on Bach. Thanks

I love this book. :D

After many years of no piano, I forgot almost all those pieces in method books but I remember the pieces from the Bach album and can even play some from memory. Short and tuneful, they are perfect for those late beginner / early intermediate level.
