In what ways do Art and Music benefit Humanity?
on: November 03, 2013, 04:33:27 PM
I am open to your thoughts about this in any way, though generally I am not just talking about something like how much studying music can improve an individual's math scores.  I mean, at the highest levels, how (do you think) is art and music an actual benefit to humanity?

Art is part of what it means to be human.  Might as well know something about it.

Art is expression and communication through craft.  Art provides the focal elements and programming around which people organize socially.  Art connects power, energy, and passion with ideas.

Vieuxtemps: Sonata in Bb Major for Viola
Prokofiev: Sonata for Flute in D Major

Without writing a 10pg. essay answering your question,, in short, I'd say art/music benefit humanity in the form of inspiration.. it can convert negative emotions into positive ones, thus uplifting the human spirit, which can be used as a catalyst to excel,, be it in helping others/society, or in your own personal life's journey. Art/Music demonstrates the highest aspiration of mankind.
