Prokofiev transcriptions?
on: November 10, 2013, 03:30:35 PM
Hi,
Are there any Prokofiev transcriptions (by himself) you guys would recommend (to play, listen to, whatever).
I'm planning out a 15 min competition repertoire, and I have about 2 and a half mins left to fill.

Any difficulty will be fine, just some recommendations. I was thinking of playing his Mephisto Waltz from "Lermontov"

Thanks
Beethoven - Piano Concerto No.2, Piano Sonata Op 57
Chopin - Ballade Op 23
Liszt- Hungarian Rhapsody No.14
Ravel - Pavane Pour une Infante Défunte
Cramer/Bulow,Chopin Etudes
Chamber music

There's a list of them here:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_compositions_by_Sergei_Prokofiev#Transcriptions_for_piano

And you can have a listen here:

Thanks, it's just that I have the whole collection (in a book) at home, but don't know where to start listening.

Wow, I like this one, I could also play this in addition to Montagues And Capulets for LTCL. Thanks! :)

Ah, OK.  My pick is his March from The Love of Three Oranges.
