Is my diploma exam repertoire any good?
on: November 11, 2013, 08:24:18 AM
I am going to take the atcl exam later and my choices of pieces are:

Bach prelude and fugue in f minor bwv 857
Beethoven sonata op 90 in e minor
Chopin nocturne op 62 no 2 in e major
Rachmaninov prelude op 32 no 5 and no 10
Are they "diverse" or whatever enough??

Looks pretty good, I mean strong and very balanced in terms of style.
Do you have to do two Rachmaninoff Preludes (it's been ages since I checked the syllabus)? I might go for a more 20th Century composer in addition to just one Prelude, maybe Morton Gould's Boogie Woogie Etude to make it even more "diverse" - it'll be by a less known composer.

I like it though, it's really balanced, and I personally think it's fine
Beethoven - Piano Concerto No.2, Piano Sonata Op 57
Chopin - Ballade Op 23
Liszt- Hungarian Rhapsody No.14
Ravel - Pavane Pour une Infante Défunte
Cramer/Bulow,Chopin Etudes
Chamber music

Really? I thought it was...in any case I'm pretty sure it's suitable as an own choice piece.
Rachmaninoff isn't too bad of a choice though.

Good luck with your exam :)

Balanced enough I think.  Good luck.
