Rachmaninoff - Bach: Gavotte
on: November 27, 2013, 06:55:51 PM
First post to the audition room
I just practice and play for fun. Nothing to serious.
Would love some constructive criticism on this piece and what I might do to improve the overall musicality. (I do realize there are a few sticky spots that need some technical work.)
Hope you enjoy.

You've done some fine work on this already. Many things sounded good.
I would try overall for a more crisp, restrained style, featuring more subtleties of timbre in the voicing. I want to hear slightly more color in the middle range of sound and expression.
Rachmaninoff himself played in a highly disciplined and emotionally rich, yet outwardly restrained manner.

Awesom_o ... very much appreciate you taking the time to listen and give feedback. Your advice is well taken. Essentially you are holding my feet to the fire to continue to develop that part of the piece (color of middle range, voicing, etc.) which I had found rather tricky and deemed "good enough." Thanks.
