3-4 Min. Beethoven Piece
on: November 14, 2004, 12:03:48 AM
Could you name a piece of Beethoven that is no more than four minutes long. I would prefer it not be a movement from a bigger work (i.e. sonata). I need it to add to my repertoire and for a competition I am entering.

Most of the Bagatelles.
The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side. (Hunter Thompson)

Fur Elise

you probably don't want to play that for a competition though.......or maybe you do, I don't know.

also:

Marche a la Turque and Minuet in G come to mind

What is wrong with Bagatelles?

I love them. I think the Op.126 is the best set esp. no.s 2 and 4.

If you're asking me, I don't think anything's wrong with the Bagatelles, I was just offering more suggestions.

ahhh...OK ;D

If you're like a good pianist, you can give the first movemnt of Op.101 a try. Not that hard, IMO.

Do you think just playing one of the cadenzas (that's more of the level I'm thinking on) that Beethoven wrote for either his own concertos (if they have substantial resolution at the fine of the cadenza) of better yet of Mozart's D Minor (no. 20? I need Mozart on my repertoire anyway). I believe Beethoven wrote two of them so I could play both of them back to back if they make sense together (with a short pause in between). What do you think?
