Missing Enrique and Littletune
on: December 03, 2013, 11:36:05 PM
I've been away most of the year but I returned last week and I notice that Enrique and Little tune have not been active on the forum since January.  Missing them.  Any news, anyone?

Yeah, I've been wondering where people went.

People come and go.  I went missing for a while and came back because I started practicing again.  I'll probably be taking a leave of absence from this forum again until my piano is regulated.  An unregulated piano is very difficult to practice on.

I do wonder about the old PF members like Comme le Vent.  He was a terrible pianists who loved Alkan.  In his mind, fury made up for all technical shortcomings and speed made up for lack of musical insight. I wonder if he's still playing the piano and if he actually learned to play it right.

Another things about PF is that it's not the most exciting place to be.  There are very few perks to logging in.  If there were more perks, this place would be more memorable and might make it more interesting to visit more often.

I guess in general those who could have the most to offer us are the ones with least time to spare...

But gladly we can still enjoy many insightful personalities. Like where would we be without your deep understanding of the music of R.Schumann?  ;)

Thanks, Thal.  Good to know Enrique is well and busy.  I hope he returns soon.  He was lots of fun.  I miss him.  Please tell him he is missed.

The internet, mobile phones and other recent electronic means have created a sort of memetic compulsion to be in constant communication with everybody, regardless of the significance of what we have to say. I think the notion that somebody ought to post regularly is part of this. Taken to its extreme, as it frequently is lately, we see sites such as facebook announcing to the world every five minutes what everybody had for breakfast and, failing any sort of exchange of trivia, there is a perpetual deluge of mindless aphorisms and grotesque pictures.

I don't know about anyone else but I do not get a musical idea worth sharing more often than about once a month. It is like a column in the paper, where, because of compulsory regularity, something must be said regardless of its worth or interest. Although I have high regard for many people here, I certainly do not want to know their every thought and movement, musical or otherwise. If a person does not post, does not wish to communicate, that is quite normal; it is the notion that such action is unusual which is  peculiar. Internet communication is a tool and an option, not an imperative.

Thank you Candlelightpiano for not forgetting me! :) (Thanks also to Thal and Bob!) :)
This year 2013 was a pretty difficult year for me... it was not so much fun but I had to think a lot about everything and learn a lot so in the end I guess that's not such a bad thing...
But I wasn't practicing piano all that much... I didn't take my grade 5 piano exams. My teacher didn't really know what to think... but now i'm starting to feel more like practicing again.  :P
Thanks to everyone who hasn't forgotten me  8) and a very happy 2014 to everyone!!! :)
