Little nocturne from Marc-Andre Hamelin

A short piece composed by Marc-Andre Hamelin, one of the few he wrote that does not require virtuoso skills, but with challenges of its own nevertheless.

It's always a pleasure to listen to Hamelin's music and you totally do justice to it!!

Great constrasts and great atmosphere created. I've really enjoyed your performance, congrats!  ;)

Hi CG,

I really enjoyed your playing of this nocturne. It was a very convincing performance.  The dissonances in the piece are really lush.  I believe that the inspiration might have come from Godowsky's "The Gardens of Buitenzorg" from the Java Suite.  Still, it's a wonderful and beautiful composition.  Thanks for sharing it here.

Thanks for the kind comment. I just listened to Hamelin's performance of "The Gardens of Buitenzorg" and I am speechless. Godowsky was a genius. It does seem though that in Godowsky's piece, the flowing notes dominate the left hand while in Hamelin's, it is the opposite.

Now I need a real piano but I am working on that :-)
