So I've decided that I wanted to focus mainly on the classical and romantic eras because I feel those two are what I'm best at (I'm pretty sure it's the same for everyone else; no?), and I also play violin which is one of the two main instruments of Haydn and Mozart (Beethoven also did a little bit of violin and viola, right?). I've played a number of string quartets and piano trios by these classical composers.

Where can I get more information to understand the style and principles of these two eras? Books? Websites? Etc? I already purchased The Classical Style by Charles Rosen, and still waiting on The Piano Concertos by John Rink and The Four Ballades by Jim Samson. I'm also considering this but I don't know yet---->  https://www.amazon.com/Analysis-through-Composition-Principles-Classical/dp/0198790139

Also, for the romantic era I'm aiming for mainly Chopin, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Liszt, and Schumann

Books Shmooks. Play Play Play!

Let us hear your violin playing! I am eager to hear you on the four strings.....

I'm very glad you have decided to focus on the Classical Era!

Beethoven was a horrible violinist but he loved to play!

Read biographies of the great composers if you want to really understand the styles! That, coupled with exhaustive study on both instruments, and you will make a fine musician in no time at all!

I highly recommend you learn classical improvisation! It will help you to understand both the classical and the romantic eras!

Unfortunately I don't have any videos of me as a soloist, so here's one of Brahms' 1st Symphony! I'm 4th chair 1st vln if you're wondering.
