In home recital program
on: December 27, 2013, 11:06:30 PM
Hey everybody how does this order look to you? I'm doing this concert to get more performance under my belt and to get the nocturne finished once and for all.

Chopin prelude no.4 e minor
Chopin nocturne op.48 no.1 c minor
Chopin prelude no.2 a minor
Alkan mad woman prelude
Then a ballade I wrote in Bb minor

Anything you all would change? I have never played the Chopin prelude a minor, I sight read the alkan today so those should be fully done by the time I do this in a month.

Any other piece suggestions?

It's a bit....romantic. ;) But nothing wrong with that at your age! How is the doppio movimento section?
Do not underestimate the A minor Prelude! The left hand is absolutely beast!
I'm interested to hear the Ballade you wrote!

On their own nothing wrong, though I do no t like Chopin all that much though I don't dislike his work either.  But it seems heavy on Chopin and on minor keys.  Could you add a major key work composed before 1820ish?  Even better that and something composed after 1915, or best yet after 1950 also with a generally upbeat and happy feel? I think Modern neoclassical would work very we'll say ala Francaix or similar... Good luck. Record the program and post :-*

Personally, I would like to hear your Ballade. I'm an avid admirer of contemporary composers!

I'm doing this concert simply to get op.48 no.1 performed to please my teacher. I am learning the other pieces in the next month because I find them easy enough. The ballade I wrote is not easy and honestly still a rough draft, but it's not gonna be hugely critical people at the concert.

I know it's heavy in minor keys. Maybe I could switch the e minor prelude for something else? Something easy enough but happy. Any suggestions haha??

It's sounding pretty good actually! Not great yet, but good. For the concert it will be better... hopefully. HAHa

The a minor prelude I actually find easy, just a bit awkward.

E minor is easy peasy. I'll just see how bad my nerves are!

The ballade should be fun, I said earlier it's a rough draft. I wanna restate that. It's a mid draft. Not final yet, but getting there. I wrote a fuge in the middle but I can't play that well yet so I'm skipping it.
I don't know if ballade is the best term for it.

Change my mind
Prelude no.7 a major instead of a minor

You were right, I need a happy piece in there.

Great playlist for a meeting of the Chopin fan club.  You'll get more participation if you include some other authors, too. A diet of all steak makes one boring, like a plains cowboy.
I'm in Nashville Greyhound with 2 hours to kill. Unfortunately, the Beckstein and Bosendorfer at Millers piano gallery are in Franklin.  I couldn't make that even if I took a cab.  They are probably closed today, anyway.
Have a great New Years.

I don't have a ton of time to put this together so I've chosen easier pieces that are accessible. It's not for a large audience anyway.

Also you would've been dissapointed, I don't think miller has ever had a Bosendorfer, if they have a bechstein  I'd be super surprised...
