Different tone in the piano - help >>
on: November 16, 2004, 10:43:10 AM
I have piano red October.
There are 2 keys in which the tone is different from the other.
The tone in them sounds stronger, metallic is not soft.
The keys that I talk on them they D and E in the third octave.
What the factor and how it's possible to solve the trouble?
the piano is tuned and regulated.
I checked if there is a buzzing hams and not or for buzzing object around the piano.
i don't know what is the problem.
Speaking on 2 keys: D and E in the third left octave.
The tone of the other keys is very good.

What the factor and how it's possible to solve the trouble?

Thanks
Tomer.

Something has caused those two hammers to become harder than the others, perhaps.  Has anything been spilled onto them?  Are they positioned correctly under the strings? Is there something else loose in the piano that is vibrating sympathetically with them, or something in the room?  Two notes don't suddenly sound that different without a clear reason.  You may need your technician to check it out.

for now this is some song that i played. "killing me softly". I will be happy to receive your reaction on the tone of the piano. The tone is good? if something in it is not proper? https://briefcase.walla.co.il/data/l/o/z/a/z/a/@/@/@/@/@/@/@/@/@/@/@/@/@/@/@/@/@/@/@/r/200407210027039895/200411031820015328/PIANO06.mp3 if the link not work try again. thanks

but he just kept right on...strumming my pain with his fingers....:D  I love that song

I dont know if its the recording quality or what, but it has a whinyness to the tone, especially in the upper notes- just a little, not too bad.. It may even have something to do with the tuning or damper pedal adjustment.  As for the supposed 2 problematic notes, you have to elaborate on the difficulty a little more.

I second babcock: you may need a technician to check it out.  Dont rely on people on the internet to give authoriative answers, especially when it concerns an expensive musical instrument..

The sound quality of your recorded sample was too poor for me to hear the sound of those two notes, but it doesn't matter.  Just have your technician examine the piano; he/she should be able to quickly pinpoint and solve the problem.
