keyboard with highlighted buttons
on: January 07, 2014, 09:30:21 PM
Hello,

I would like to learn playing piano with the use of keyboard that has possibility to highlight keys. I want to be able to upload songs downloaded from the internet in midi files in order to learn songs that I like. I don't quite want to learn how to read sheet music, I just want to enjoy being able to play some songs that I like.

And now I wonder, which keyboard would be the best choice. So far I have found these: Casio LK-230, Yamaha EZ 220 (there is also e.g. Casio LK-125AD). As far as I have found, it may be impossible to upload new songs to Yamaha EZ 220 but I'm not sure if this is possible with Casio LK-230.

What could you recommend?
Thanks in advance for replies!

The best choice is the one that doesn't light up.  I wouldn't go that direction at all.

I don't think you can learn to play the PIANO with a keyboard like that. You might learn to play keyboards though...

I'd recommend a decent piano lamp.  They are far more enjoyable to play music with, and they can be paired with an extensive assortment of pianos or digital pianos that are suitable for someone at your level.

A piano lamp will also far exceed the novelty a lighted-keyboard may bring for the first few practice sessions.  You can continue to enjoy using that lamp as your musical abilities grow.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

When I first started learning piano, I used stickers to indicate middle C and some of the 'landmarks' of the one song I was learning. It helped me to learn the song very quickly, and I honestly think it helped me picture the keyboard in a way that pianists do.

Later on, transitioning to no stickers wasn't that difficult anyway, so if you're just starting out, then highlighted keys isn't that bad of an option IMO.

Next time one thinks tickets to a concert tour show are too much, consider what the expenses of touring are. Bands practically go bankrupt taking their show on the road, which is something that must give one pause next time they think about unlawfully installing songs. A short term loan will help you pay for your tour. If you are a musician and you need help with your finances, you should try availing a payday loan right now. You will be able to buy new instruments for your band and be able to held a road tour. You will surely enjoy your tour if you have brand new instruments for your band.
