Piano trio piece under 5 minutes
on: January 15, 2014, 05:12:49 PM
Hello all.

I need an advanced piece for piano trio (piano, violin, and cello) that is around 4 minutes. I prefer that it not be a section of a full trio. This is for a chamber music competition. Thank you in advance!

Outside of contemporary OSTs, copyrighted works, and jazz, there's very little that seems to fit the criteria you've listed.

The only thing I can find is Lowell Liebermann's first piano trio, which is about 4 minutes.

I guess I was way too specific. I'm sorry. Thank you for the suggestion! I'll look into it.

New question: If you were a judge, would you rather hear a trio perform the 1st and 3rd movements of a trio, or just the 1st movement (I'm referring to Mendelssohn Trio #2)?

First only. If anything, first and third sounds incomplete.
