Repertoire: Need help choosing between two!
on: January 16, 2014, 08:43:34 PM
Ok, I'm finally done with all pieces I've been learning since september. I'm looking for some new things to play.
My teacher has made two possibilities:
1) Chopin Scherzo no.2
2) Henselt Etudes Op.2 nos.8, 10 (and maybe no.3)
I don't know which of them I'll choose.
At the one hand there is the scherzo-it is really big piece of music, some of the parts are just incredible! the middle part is like hymn of angels. And if I was be able to play it, many people would appreciate it.
On the other hand there are absolutly gorgeous Henselt etudes that they not only would improve my technic but also they are full of deep emotions. The no.8 etude just moved me like nothing else before. And the other ones are as amazing as it.
I want to pick the scherzo for it self grandiosity and lyrical melody, but I want to play the etudes for the emotional feelings and inherent technical improvement.
If I picked the Scherzo, I would regret I didn't choose the etudes...I really don't know!
Also, which of them is technicaly more difficult? And which of them you think that would fit me better?
